Tradition

Xavier "They are delicious"
Scout "I would rather have molasses but they are good"
Dad "They are good dipped in peanut butter"
Mom "Good right out of the oven" "Reminds me of my youth"
Rosanna "Good dipped in coffee or red wine"
These are quotes from our family on how they feel about Tarallis, (pronounced tadalls), a Italian type pretzel. Our family has made these for years, and we have often just kept the recipe between family but today we share it with you all. Back in Italy Grandma's family would take Tarallis, stack them on a broom stick and sell them in town at the market. There are so many memories of making these, one memory of making them with our other mother Marlene, we tried to get creative with the traditional recipe by using wheat flour, and making some with chocolate chips, this was an epic failure. We learned that the traditional recipe should not be messed with, this is one recipe where you cannot tweak it, the original is the best.
While making these today we all discovered we all have our own talents and we all need to work together to make them great. Michelle was of course amazing at everything (except when it comes to kneading and placing on the wire rack), okay she was best at rolling.  Rosanna had excellent kneading skills and not so great rolling skills. Mom as usually was an excellent supervisor.
