1 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
2 1/2 Tablespoons ice water
Almond paste (can buy a small tube in the store, or make recipe below)
In bowl combine flour and salt, with pastry blender cut in butter until particles are like peas gradually work in ice water. Chill 1 hour.
Roll pastry into 12" squares cut into 3 x 4" wide. Spread almond past in center and roll corner to corner.
Bake 20 - 25 minutes or until light golden.
Almond Paste (Marispan)
1/2 cup blanch almonds
1/2 cup powder sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg white.
Use food processor to blend all together until past forms.
