3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2.6 oz (2 cups) chocolate chips
2 cups finely chopped nuts
Cream butter, sugar, vanilla. Blend flour & salt. in in 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Shape into 2" logs using level teaspoon for each. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes. While cooling make chocolate coating
Chocolate Coating
Melt over hot boiling water (or in microwave) remaining 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (we used melting chocolate instead was a lot creamier) & 1 tablespoon shortening, stirring until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Dip ens of cookies in chocolate coating and roll in nuts. Place on waxed paper until set. Makes 4 dozen, 2" logs.
