Like Michelle I had a hard time choosing a favorite. My favorite thing about all of grandma's cookies is the cookie dough. Most likely because cookie dough is soft and grandma liked her cookies crispy. Whenever I would cook with her she would always say I under cooked them. Old-Fashioned Goodness are the only cookie in which I don't like the cookie dough but LOVE the cookie (more of a bar really). We also found out while baking these for the blog that the recipe came from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune back in 1979, the year I was born.

1 ½ c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla

1 15oz can sweetened condensed milk

For cookies base and topping beat together the butter and
sugar until they are light and fluffy, blend in the egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, soda and salt, add and mix
well. Stir in the oats and press ½ of the mixture into the bottom of greased 13

Filling – melt together the chocolate, condensed milk,
butter and salt in heavy pan over low heat until they are smooth. Stir in the nut, vanilla. Spread them over
the uncooked base mixture sprinkle the reserved base mixture evenly over the
chocolate layer press down slightly. Bake in 350 oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool
